Nigeria’s Ejiro wins Best Model World

Few weeks after she beat other contenders to emerge Best Model Nigeria, Ejiro Joy Akpokiniovo has emerged winner of the 29th edition of Best Model of the World. Modelslink, organisers of the Best Model Nigeria contest, sponsored the winner and first runner-up (Ejiro Joy Akpokiniovo and Pamela Orizu), alongside the Nigerian National Director Mrs Augustina Okitiakpe to represent the country at the Best Model of The World contest.

Held on December 3, in Istanbul, Turkey, Best Model of The World grand finale featured models from over 40 countries, who competed for the crown. But in the end, Nigeria’s Ejiro emerged victorious in the female category, beating other contestants from Europe, America, Asia and other African countries, while Pamela Orizu also won the Best Catwalk Model of The World at the event.

In its last 29 year, the platform, which has produced many international models such as Naomi Campbell, showcases the models in their casuals, traditional costumes, swim wear and dinner gown.

Modelslink owners of the Best Model of The World franchise in Nigeria has used this platform to empower many Nigeria youths in the Modeling/ Fashion industry in Nigeria and it has also been a very good medium of promoting Nigeria’s rich culture and tourism potentials to the outside world. In the last six years, the outfit has used the platform to send Nigerian models to countries such as Bulgaria, Turkey, Italy, USA, Egypt, Dubai (UAE) and United Kingdom.

Through these achievements, Nigeria currently has the right to host the world in 2017.

“We are therefore using this medium to call on the government, cooperate, media organisations and well-meaning Nigerians to support this great event because it has the potentials that will help change the perception of Nigeria image and promote our rich cultural heritage,” the organisers said.
