Nokia has unveiled a refreshed version of the renowned Nokia 3310 with some improved features & hardware. The new Nokia 3310 (2017) comes with a simple design and a near indestructible shell ; similar to the one that was launched in 2000.

Here are the new features of Nokia 3310 (2017) :

1. It has a colour display : 

The 3310 features a 2.4 inch QVGA display with a pixel density of 120 ppi. Although the screen is not as impressive as modern day smartphones , the 3310’s polarized and curved screen window makes for better readability in sunlight.

2. It has a camera :

Although not impressive , the 3310 has a 2MP back camera for taking “Simple Snaps”. The camera has an LED flash which helps when taking shots in a dark environment. Tragically for social media enthusiasts there is no front camera for selfies on the new phone

3. It DOES NOT run Android OS :

Contrary to what we all expected , the 3310 DOES NOT  run Android operating system. Instead , it runs Nokia’s Series 30+ software which is designed for feature phones. The user interface has been revamped to give a cleaner & modern look.

4. The battery can last for 1 month :

The Nokia 3310 has a Yuge HUGE battery life of 31days on standby and a whooping 22hours talk time.

5. It can access the internet :

Yes , the 3310 can access the internet but you’ld need to have a lot of patience because it uses a 2.5G connection which is very slow compared to 3.5G and 4G LTE internet.

6. Internal & External storage is available :

The 3310 has a storage capacity of just 16MB (laughs). However , there is an external SD card slot of up to 32GB for those who need more storage (Who wouldn’t? :D)

7. It has Snake Game :

The renowned Snake game is available on the 3310 , albeit a modern version which looks different from the one you know.

8. Goodbye to “Pin mouth charger” :

The new 3310 has a Micro-USB charging port which is different form the “Pin Mouth” charging port that was used in the year 2000.

Samsung Galaxy S8 to ditch headphone jack

Headphone gate could be set to kick off all over again after Samsung revealed plans to remove the headphone jack from the new Galaxy S8 phone.

The tech giant has followed in the footsteps of rival Apple, confirming to SamMobile that it will replace the jack with a USB Type-C port instead.

You can wave goodbye to your favourite headphones, which will not be compatible with the new phone as Samsung favour a thinner model with a bigger battery.

iPhone users were outraged when Apple unveiled the iPhone 7 in September – and it had no headphone jack, instead replacing its classic earphones with £159 wireless AirPods.

But despite widespread backlash the phone still sold out, with UK customers desperate to get their hands on one when it was released.

It is also rumoured that the Galaxy S8, which will be officially unveiled next February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, will also ditch the signature home button.

It’s claimed that the new phone will have its fingerprint scanner under the screen instead, which will work using pressure-sensitive display technology.

This means that the phone will be able to distinguish between a light tap and deep press – meaning access to more functions just by pressing down harder.

Samsung fans can also reportedly expect an ‘Edge’ style screen and improved camera, as well as a 4K display, reports thesun.co.uk.

The firm have come under fire recently for the Galaxy Note 7, which was forced to be recalled after reports of exploding phones from users across the world.

The South Korean tech giant has asked owners of the £750 handset to turn it off because of fears it will catch fire.

Several owners reported that their phones unexpectedly went up in flames, including a man who suffered severe burns when the phone caught fire in his pocket and the device even managed to set a car alight.

Just yesterday Samsung won an important victory in its long legal battle against rival Apple, who claimed that Samsung stole its technology and the iPhone’s trademarked appearance.

A jury came to the verdict in 2012 that Samsung had infringed Apple’s patents and forced them to pay the iPhone manufacturer $548million in damages.

But they appealed and the US Supreme Court sided with Samsung, saying that a patent violator does not always have to fork over its entire profits from the sales of products using stolen designs, if the designs covered only certain components and not the whole thing.

Samsung has withdrawn all of its Galaxy Note 7 smartphones from sale globally after a spate of fires involving “safe” replacements.

In a statement issued late on Monday, Samsung said consumers with original Note 7 devices or replacements they obtained after the recall should turn off the power and seek a refund or exchange them for different phones.

South Korean authorities said they had found a new product defect in the Note 7 – Samsung’s most popular smartphone – and also asked consumers to power them down or to exchange them. The statement did not identify the defect.



Samsung Galaxy Note 7 crisis deepens with reports of production halt

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission said it is continuing to investigate at least five incidents of fire or overheating reported since a formal recall was announced on 15 September.
No one should have to be concerned their phone will endanger them, their family or their property,” Elliot Kaye, chairman of the safety commission, said in a statement. He called Samsung’s decision to suspend all sales “the right move” in light of “ongoing safety concerns”.

With all those reports about Note 7s burningflesh and setting vehicles on fire, you're probably wondering when you'll hear about a lawsuit. Well, here you go. A man from Florida named Jonathan Strobel has filed a lawsuit against Samsung over an exploding Note 7, and it could be the first of its kind in the US. According to Reuters, the phone blew up in the plaintiff's pocket while he was in a Costco on September 9th. It reportedly caused deep second-degree burns to his right thigh that's about the size of the phone, as well as to his thumb.

That's a week after Samsung announced its recall program and the same day the company started planning for an official recall in the country with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission. The CPSC finally launched an official, nationwide recall program for Note 7s on September 15th. "Unfortunately," Strobel's lawyer said, "for my client [it] came too late."

When Samsung first announced that it's taking back units it already shipped, there were only 35 reported cases of batteries overheating. That number climbed until it reached 92 cases, according to the CPSC. Since replacement Note 7s won't be available until September 21st, though, most buyers still haven't turned theirs in yet. A Samsung spokesperson refused to talk about the case with Reuters, but she urged "all Note 7 owners to power their device down and exchange it immediately." As for Strobel, he's now seeking damages for medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, along with other injuries.
